It's the Todd, Stupid!

No, you're not stupid.  But it's easy to overlook exactly why the Branchflower Report is damning for Palin.  Yes, the first finding says she abused her power, but the second finding says she was alright to fire Monegan, so what's the problem?  Well, here's the problem, from Page 66:

[Governor Palin] knowingly... permitted Todd Palin to use the Governor's office and the resources of the Governor's office, including access to state employees, to continue to contact subordinate state employees in an effort to find some way to get Trooper Wooten fired.  Her conduct violated AS 39.52.110(a) of the Ethics Act.

...

Governor Palin knowingly permitted a situation to continue where impermissible pressure was placed on several subordinates in order to advance a personal agenda, to wit:  to get Trooper Wooten fired.  She had the authority and power to require Mr. Palin to cease contacting subordinates, but she failed to act.

Basically, by not reining in Todd Palin, who was operating under the pseudo-umbrella of the Governor's office (a la the "Shadow Governorship"), Sarah Palin violated the state's Ethics Act, which appears to be a binding statue that carries teeth when violated.  We shall see.  By the way, let me know if I'm wrong - this is my snap impression.

So, if (and that is a very big IF) McCain and Palin win the White House, does it mean Todd Palin will be a "shadow" Vice President. I guess it makes since, because Cindy McCain will be the "shadow" President.

From this report, we have no reason to think that Todd WOULDN'T be the Shadow Vice President.  That makes ya feel good about the future, doesn't it?

Chilling thought for career civil servants.. (none / 0)

As if eight years of buyouts and early retirements during the Bush years hadn't been enough.

This is why they are pushing the ACORN non-issue. I would think Republicans would be terrified to even mention voter suppression with their history. So Todd is the "hatchet man"?
